MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: Setting the English Standard with Christopher Lampert
Antares Offices is a space that not only allows people to work comfortably but efficiently. It’s also a space that brings together professionals and companies at different stages, from various industries, under one rooftop. This ultimately allows them to collectively do what they all do best in their own fields and meet new business partners.
Our greatest asset is undoubtedly our members and their diversity. This is why we started to focus on growing a sense of community amongst our members. Our aim is to foster an environment in which our members not only thrive in their own careers and businesses, but also support each other’s growth and help overcome any challenges & future uncertainties.
While we can’t work together at the moment, because of COVID-19, we firmly believe that social distancing doesn’t have to mean social isolation. Therefore, we plan to highlight our amazing members regularly and put a spotlight on the great work they are doing.
In this month’s Member Spotlight, we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Lampert, the Founder & Managing Director of Standard English Academy (SEA): a language school. We asked Christopher some questions to get to know him and learn about the journey he’s been on, career-wise.
Who is Standard English Academy?
We are an ESL (English as a Second Language) school.
What is your role in the company?
I’m the founder & MD, and I’m also a business English & TOEIC, IELTS & TOEFL teacher.
Can you tell us a little about the history of Standard English Academy? When was it founded, what sparked it, etc.?
I started this company in June 2013. After 7 years working at a private school in Bangkok while working for 11 years at a university in Bangkok (at the same time), I wanted to keep teaching but not at a Thai school anymore. I also wanted to focus more on teaching working professionals & students preparing to go overseas for university.
Who would benefit most from your services?
Companies looking to help improve their employees’ English skills for work and companies that need copywriting for internal QMS docs, ISO docs, policies, webpages & blogs.
What has been your favorite project and why?
Too many, to list. Overall, we’ve had many international corp. customers located outside of Bangkok for language courses & content. These are the ones we like the most.
How has the Covid-19 pandemic affected you and your business – positively or negatively?
Positively: we’ve been able to focus on & build our copywriting, copyediting & translation services.
Negatively: we haven’t been able to sell any language instruction courses.
Let’s talk a little about you. What do you enjoy when you are not working?
Watching movies & American football with my daughter.
What made you choose Antares Offices as your home base for your company?
We chose Antares, because of its central location in Bangkok, proximity to the Phrom Phong BTS station, meeting room quality, setup & support, rental agreement, pricing & benefits with lease agreement. Especially, the allotted meeting room time that comes with the lease agreement. It’s perfect for conducting F2F courses.
