MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: Boost hotels’ ability to truly wow guests with Deniz Tekerek

In this month’s Member Spotlight, we’d like to introduce you Deniz Tekerek, the co-founder and CEO of Portier Technologies, the most engaging guest experience platform for hotels and resorts in the modern era of travel. We asked Deniz some questions to get to know him and learn about the journey he’s been on, career-wise.
Let’s start with the basics. Who is Portier Technologies and what is your role in the company?
Portier Technologies is a group of people who have a passion for the hotel and hospitality industry, and they are on a mission to push for a more digital future for the industry. While the company operates in Hong Kong, Singapore and large parts of Europe, Thailand is our original market and represents our largest client base. I am one of two co-founders of the business and the current CEO – my role is focused on fundraising, recruitment and strategic sales to key accounts.
Can you tell us a little about the history of your company? When was it founded, what sparked it, etc.?
The company launched in Thailand in mid-2017 through a relationship with one of the country’s most iconic hotels, The Siam in Bangkok. The key concept that sparked the establishment of our platform was the desire to guide travelers across both the city and the hotel in a much more exciting way. To achieve this, a strong editorial team was one of the first building blocks of our solution.
What type of businesses would benefit most from your services?
Mostly, travelers (domestic and international) benefit from immediate localization at the hotel and the destination. Their industry-leading usage of the platform then offers an unparalleled opportunity for hotels to drive more revenue to their ancillary services.
What has been your favorite project and why?
That’s not easy to say, but due to the nostalgia we associate with our partnership with The Siam, launching our service at this property could be classed as our favorite memory. This is a project we can always look back to as the start of our story. Since then, our swift expansion to major European cities has been a very exciting journey.
How has the Covid-19 pandemic affected you and your business – positively or negatively?
With hotels suffering from closures or temporary shutdowns, growth has naturally slowed down, but equally, the amount of hospitality businesses reaching out to us has reached an all-time peak, due to the industry’s acceleration towards digitalization.
Let’s talk a little about you. What do you enjoy when you are not working?
I enjoy playing team sports like football or basketball, but also care for a good book, preferably fiction, so I can find distraction from the world of business and consider more neutral perspectives. Over the last two years, I have been involved with a number of startup mentoring programs and have found the idea of sharing knowledge with fresh starters extremely exciting.

It’s the sense of care we felt from the first day, and we’ve always found it easy and pleasant to deal with Antares’ staff members. Obviously, the great location is a major advantage too.
